Good morning! In today’s post, I will be sharing with you what deodorant I like to use. It can be tough to find a deodorant that is all natural and toxin free that actually works. Here we go! 

I have tried several from whole foods that have worked ok. However, all of them but one gave me a rash under my armpit, the kind you want to itch all day long. No bueno. So, I decided to finally give Young Living Mountain Mint deodorant a try without much expectation.

First let’s talk about why you should choose a healthy deodorant. 

The main ingredient you want to stay away from is aluminum. Long term exposure to this chemical element is linked to neurological disorders because it is a neurotoxin. It is also linked to breast cancer too.  Makes sense, our armpits are very close to our breasts. We cannot completely rid our lives of toxins, but why not control what we can.

For those of you looking for a healthy alternative, I highly recommend this brand. I am an active mamma that needs a healthy deodorant that works. I have put this one to the test!

3 ways to improve your sleep

Today I am going to share with you three 3 simple ways you can improve your sleep.

Did you know that only 65% of Americans get a good nights sleep, while the other 35% get a poor nights sleep?  If you are part of the 35%,  then this post is for you.  I encourage you to test out my tips, and see which one works best for you! Personally, I love them all!

Why it’s important for you to get a good nights sleep?

First, let’s talk about  some of the benefits. Here are just a few: lower’s your risk of depression & anxiety, improves memory & focus, promotes longevity of life, increases athletic performance, and helps you maintain a healthy weight. 

I don’t know about you, but all of the above benefits are important to me. Yet, some how it can be easy to get in the “not enough sleep cycle.” Why is this? I believe it is due to several things that can be put into two categories: poor habits, over scheduled lives due to work & commitments.

So how do get the desired outcome we all want, enough rest?

I  highly recommend that you look at your habits to see what could be affecting your sleep quality. For example: watching TV or being on the computer to late at night, to much caffeine, etc….

Below are 3 small changes you can add to your nighttime routine.

They have all been so helpful to me, absolute “game changers.”My three best tips on how to be well rested and ready to go!

  1. Stay away from your computer/TV! Perhaps do some reading! It helps.

     2. Take Magnesium before bed aids in relaxing muscles as well has helps rest the mind preparing the body for rest.

     3. Add a couple drops of Lavender to your feet, & diffuse !in your bedroom at night, next to your bed.  Lavender is very soothing and calming to our body. Many find this to be helpful, including myself.

Bonus tip: regular exercise really increases your ability to sleep well! At least 3 times a week for 30 minutes!

For those of you who love being healthy, or are trying to jump on the healthy bandwagon, this is a simple lemon detox drink to start you out! This is great for gently cleaning the body. This cleanse will give you energy, and will also support your body in dropping some lbs.

This drink is great for those of you that are new to detoxing the body; it’s a great way to start!

We live in a world full of toxins. Toxic agents are found in the water we drink, air we breathe, and are becoming abundant in the foods we eat due to the chemicals and pesticides used. It is impossible to live without toxic free radicals. It’s not going to happen. It’s out of our control.

What we do have control over is the helping our body get rid of these toxins so that we can live a healthier, happier life!

Fasting, juicing, sweating, baths, and elimination from the body are just a few ways to detox.  To help you get going on your health goals, I wanted to share with you a simple recipe to help you ease into the world of detoxification. I figure if you have read this far, then you have some health goals are the desire to be healthier!

Know that if you have years of toxic build up in your body, cleansing the body can come with natural side effects as your organs, and fat cell begin to let go of these unwanted free radicals. You can experience; fatigue, headaches, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, sleep disturbances, moodiness, skin and more. So if you are not in optimal health or are just starting this process, it would be wise to consult your trained health care professional to come up with a plan.

Well, let me put it this way. Oil Pulling how to & it’s benefits!

Oil pulling

Oil pulling is one of my newest adopted healthy habits. I’m not a big fan of going to the dentist, but don’t really want my teeth to fall out either, so I started to search for something I can do to encourage healthy gums and teeth. I remembered several girlfriends talking about oil pulling, so I thought I would look into it, and am excited to share with you what I have found.

Every morning while I tidy up or at night while I work on my computer this is what I do! Pull organic cold pressed coconut oil, swishing it in and out of my teeth!

What is Oil Pulling you might ask?

Oil pulling is the practice of swishing oil around in your mouth for a minimum of 5 minutes- up to 20 minutes as a daily routine. It is said that it has many health benefits due to it’s ability to pull bacteria out of the mouth, along with many other added benefits. By eliminating the bacteria and toxins in the mouth, they cannot reach the gut where we all know the disease starts.

How to pull oil?

I like to take 1 Table spoon of coconut oil, place it in my mouth along with 2 drops of peppermint essential oil for added cleansing, anti-microbial benefits, then I swish for 10 minutes. I am trying to work my way up to 20 minutes. Make sure you don’t swallow the oil, you want to spit it out along with all the toxins you drew out by oil pulling. Lastly, be sure to spit the oil in a garbage can. It may clog your sink, especially if done daily.

Oil Pulling How To:

  1. Place a tablespoon of oil in your mouth, preferably in the morning ( 2 drops of Peppermint essential oil is optional).
  2. Swish for 10- 20 minutes, at least 5 minutes.
  3. Spit oil in garbage can.
  4. brush your teeth and rinse mouth well.
  5. Repeat daily or at least 3 times a week!

What oil I like to use?

I like to use coconut oil due to it’s large variety of health benefits. It helps us fight off candida and is an anti-fungal. I also cook with it, so I always have it on hand. You can also use olive oil and sesame oil.

  • Get’s rid of tooth decay

  • Boots your immune system

  • Gives you more energy

  • Heals gums

  • Whitens teeth

  • Promotes clear skin

  • Detoxes the body
