30 days of reading, hearing, and speaking God’s truth; Blessing!

Welcome to day 26!

Blessing……more specifically, blessing others!

I am so excited to talk about this topic and look at some quotes and scriptures with you! In the begging of this journey I shared with you that I had become a little complacent in my walk with Jesus! Together we have made that change, by showing up at His feet and asking for more!

I have also felt the Lord asking me to reach out and bless others with my time and service. This is something the Lord has been placing on my heart for a while now.

What have I done about it?…….given it a bit of thought…….only to make excuses, like: I am a  mom, I have a two year old, there’s not enough time.

But now is the time for me to say YES, to what God is placing on my heart! I don’t have to commit every night of my week. I can start with one day a month or 2 days a month to give to another my time, my service!  This is what the Lord has been placing on my heart. He may be speaking to you about something different. Whatever that is…….

My hope is that you will do the same! Say YES! What has God been placing on your heart that you want to do, but have been a bit hesitant about?

Verse of the day!

Together, let’s look at two quotes by others that have experienced the blessing of blessing others!

“The greatest blessing in the whole world is being a blessing.”  Jack Hyles

“God blesses us, so that we might bless others.” Charles Stanley

The 4 laws of God’s blessing by Rick Warren! Read his full thought here!

1. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing (Genesis 12:2).

This is the first law of lesson, it must flow outwardly.

2. So He said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or parents or brothers or wife or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, who shall not receive many times more in this present time, and in the age to come eternal life (Luke 18: 29-30).

When we bless others, God takes care of our needs.

3. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you (Luke 6:38).

Our blessings to others will come back to us.

4. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked (Luke 12:48).

The more we are blessed by God, the more he expects us to bless others.

It’s so exciting to know that God has specific plans for the blessings He gives us! Together, let’s pray that He would show us how He wants us to share the blessing so it keeps on blessing!

Instead of a song of the day, I want to encourage you to continue in your quiet time with Jesus! Prayer, reading, or pen and paper. Journaling has been such a blessing to me! Any of those are great!

If this has been a blessing to you and you want to share it with others, you can PIN IT!

30 days of reading, hearing, and speaking God’s truth into our lives; prayer.

Welcome to day 25!

This is a topic that will bless you! There is so much power in prayer! When we come to the Father and ask, He is faithful! When we come to the Father and praise Him our spirits are lifted!  As we give thanks for all He is and does, it puts a smile on our face and deep love in our hearts!

Today I want to look at some verses on prayer, when to pray, and one of my favorite prayers in the Bible!

Verse of the day!

What a beautiful thing it is, to know that we can come to the Christ in open communication any time we want to!

The Bible says,

Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you (Jeremiah 29:12).

Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them (Mark 11:24).

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him (1 John 5:14).

I read about men like John Wesley and Martin Luther. They would prayer for hours in the morning. What a blessing that must of been to them. What an honor to spend that kind of time in prayer each day before the Lord.

Although prayer can look like that, it doesn’t have to. We can enter into prayer with Jesus anytime & anywhere! Together let’s look at when we can pray! And then we close with a few prayers in the Bible!

When is a good time to pray? According to the verse above, continuously!

  • when we exercise
  • while driving
  • standing in line
  • the moment our eyes open, ask God to go before you, and guide your day!
  • before bed, thank Him for another day and all the blessings!
  • waiting at the Doctor’s office
  • while you clean

We can fill our day with communication with the Lord. He desires for us to talk with Him like a friend, all day long, and about everything!

There are many prayers you can pray. You pray the Psalms, Scriptures, or the Lord’s prayer. Today I share with you one of my favorites!

The Prayer of Jabez!

Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request ( 1 Chronicles 4:10).

Keep sending up those prayers, keep asking, be sure to keep those line of communication open. The Lord loves to hear your voice!

Love you all, & praying for you!

Together let’s spend quiet time alone with our Savior, learn to listen to still small voice. Let’s think on Him, and how awesome He is!

30 days of reading, hearing, and speaking God’s truth into our lives; God’s gifts.

Welcome to day 24!

Gods gifts…….

Let’s jump on in! Verse of the day!

2 Corinthians 3:5

Oh man you guys, I am so excited about today’s topic! Today, I want to share a quote. This one thrills my heart! Here’s why………

As we get to know Christ and become more like Him we discover our true identity. He reveals to us the person He created us to be; the gifts He has given us. In Christ we are a new being, the old person begins to fade. The things the world has told us about ourselves melts away in light of who we are in Christ. We become what we behold. As we behold Christ our true identity is revealed because we were created to bear His image, not that of the world.

If we truly want to know ourselves, our gifts, our specific purpose and identity, it is found in Christ alone!

All the scriptures we are going to look at today tell us, that the God we serve is an intimate God. These verses show us that He cares for you in me in a very specific way. He created us unique, special, and for a purpose!

God’s word says,

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13).

It doesn’t get more intimate than that!

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).

This verse tells me God is specific!

Romans 12 tell us that we are all given special gifts!

For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function,  so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.  Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching;  he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

Why does God give each one of us special gifts?

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all ( 1 Corinthians 12:7).

Christ draws us, changes us, and reveals to us our true identity in Him. He asks,

As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God (1 Peter 4:10).

There is no greater adventure than to find our true identity in Christ. There is nothing more thrilling to man’s heart, than to let God lead.

One of my favorite promises!

In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths (Proverbs 3:6).

Together, let’s press in. Let’s sit quietly before the Lord. He longs to reveal Himself. He longs to fill us up!

30 Days of Reading, Hearing, and Speaking God’s truth into our lives; God call us!

Welcome to day 23! This is where it gets good guys! There is no greater privilege and honor than to be used by God to enlarge His Kingdom, cheer one up, and love on another!

God calls us……..verse of the day!

Matthew 4:19

When we are willing, God uses the love bestowed on us. He uses us as conduits to pour His great love out onto the lives of others. He does this in many ways, in many countries, and through many people. If you are willing and available, He will use YOU! An you will be blessed because of it!

What did Christ come give us to share with others?

The Gospel story, which is the news that God has entered the world in Jesus Christ to achieve a salvation that we could not achieve for ourselves. The good news of Jesus is capable of transforming everything in a person, their community, and their world! (The Gospel Primer)

Let’s take a peek at who Christ called to share His Gospel story!

The twelve disciples were mainly fishermen, and a tax collector. He called them to share His message to the world. That same message is still alive, and  He desires that each heart that believes will participate in sharing!

Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father ( John 14:12).

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come (Matthew 24:14).

Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples (Psalm 96:3).

And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15).

I love this chapter Mark 5, Here Christ meets a man possessed by demons, sets him free, and then what does He tell him? This man that was set free wanted to stay with Christ, but Christ said,

Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”

I love this story, because sometimes we think we don’t know God’s word enough. We feel ill equipped or inadequate to share the Gospel with others. However, here in this story you see that Jesus said go and share with those you know what Christ has done for you! This was a demon possessed man, crazy!

It is so exciting to me that we get to be a part of Christ’s work by making ourselves available to Jesus and how He wants to use us! He desires for us to share with those around us what Christ has done for us. As we continue to come He will grow our faith and enlighten our minds to the truth of God’s word.

We don’t have to be Bible scholars, we just have to open to sharing! God calls us to plant seeds, His power grows those seeds planted.

We all get to be a part of sharing the amazing and transnational Gospel story!

Instead of a song, I would love for us to pray, and perhaps journal the things that the Lord is speaking to our heart! Let’s sit in quietness and let Him fill us up & speak to our hearts!

30 days of reading, hearing, and speaking God’s truth into our lives; The Holy spirit.

Welcome to our last nine days together! Today is day 22!

In these last few days, together I want to look at what God’s word says about our purpose as followers of Jesus. My hope is that God will give us each a greater understanding of what it looks like to serve Him. I trust that He will reveal to each one of us the next step in our walk with Him. Deeper we go!

As a child I always heard of the Holy Spirit, but didn’t fully understand His role in our lives. Once I understood this, I realized the power in asking for more of the Holy Spirit in my life!

Holy Spirit…… verse of the day!

John 14:16

There is much to be learned about the Holy Spirit. Together I want to look at a a few key characteristics of the Spirit that we can tuck away in our hearts, and think on!

  • Who is the Holy Spirit
  • Who has access to Him
  • The work of the Holy spirit

Who is the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is part of the Godhead (Trinity), and has His specific work. God the Father, gave us His son Jesus, the Father and the Son sent the spirit to us to abide in us forever if we will let Him. Before Christ’s death, He told the disciples; in a while I will go away but I will pray to the Father and He will give you another Helper (Mathew 28:19, John 14). Before Christ’s death we didn’t have access to the Spirit.

Who has access to the Holy Spirit?

All of us, anyone who is willing to receive Him! Whoever asks, will receive. God desires for all to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38-39, 1 John 3:24, John 3:34).

The work of the Holy Spirit.

One of the Holy Spirit’s purposes is to bring to completion all that God had planned by sending His Son Jesus, to die for our sins. The Holy Spirit was sent to us all to draw us, work in us, to bring about regeneration. Regeneration is the work of the Spirit in our hearts that brings about change. It is His power that makes us more like Christ Jesus! ( Ezekiel 37:14)

The Bible says in  Romans 8:1-12,

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

The Holy Spirit was given to us all. As we come to Jesus for more, we can ask for the Holy Spirit to do His work in us; to change our hearts. It is the Spirit that brings about change. Together, let’s keep asking the Spirit be poured out on us, so we can be all that Christ desire us to be!
