DIY Hand Pump Lid for Mason Jars

DIY Hand pump Lid

DIY Hand Pump Lid for Mason Jars

BY: JESSICA DOEBLER | INSPIRE THE MOM

I’ve been wanting to try this do-it-yourself Mason Jar hand pump lid since it was popular… three years ago… but I’m just now getting around to it. 😉 Now that I’ve done it, I’m not sure why I waited so long. It took me all of ten minutes and now I have a cute way to store some of my diy natural products that require hand pumps.

Young Living essential oil stater kit deal

Just so you know, if you are not the diy type, but love the look, you can purchase the lid/pump topper on Amazon for pretty cheap. (While you are at it, make sure you check out all the other cool accessories and hacks that go along with mason jars.)

Since I knew the exact purpose I was going to use for this project I went ahead and purchased labels. I found some re-positional chalkboard labels that work great if the container needs washing. And instead of using chalk with these labels, I used a white paint pen to do the lettering (avoiding any potential chalk smudging).

DIY Mason Jar Pump

Materials Needed:

  • Mason Jar with two piece lid
  • Hand pump from another bottle (I used an old Burts-Bees bottle pump because I was using a 16oz jar. If you are using a pint sized jar you can use pumps from hand soaps, sanitizers, or things of that nature.)
  • Permanent marker
  • Hammer and poking tool (I used a  nail punch)
  • Pliers
  • Superglue
  • Spray paint (optional)
  • Labels (optional)

Directions:

  1. Take your marker and place a little x in the middle of your mason jar lid. Secure the lid to the jar.
  2. Use your hammer and nail punch to make a hole. (the hole does not have to be perfect, just big enough to set the pump piece in so it sits nicely on top.
  3. Remove the lid from the jar. With the Pliers, secure the sharp edges to the under-part of the lid.
  4. Spray paint the lid.
  5. Trim the pump straw if it is too long. (You want it sitting very close to the bottom of the jar, but not touching.)
  6. Insert the pump and superglue it to the top of the lid (give it a little time to dry).

…and Voila!

FEAR

OR Face Everything and Rise. – Unknown

BY: MANDY LIMON | MELODIC RHYTHMS OF HOPE

I discovered this quote almost two years ago and it power punched me in the face!

The play on words immediately took me a few years back to a church service where a leader I greatly respected approached me saying,

“Amanda, I see you as a Lioness with a great voice. You have a gifting that will bless a generation, However, you have lived enclosed in a cage for far too long. In times when you have attempted to step out in faith, paw to the soil, you cower back into your cage. You were meant to run free, to influence and to let your roar be heard for generations to come”

*Jaw Drop*

I remember being blown away that someone could see into the depths of my soul (mind, will and emotions). It was in that moment I realized I had cut off the oxygen supply to my dreams and passions.

I began questioning everything like, “When did this happen? When did I take an extinguisher to the fire in my heart? And why have I allowed certain experiences in my life to dictate my future?”.

You know what I discovered?

I found that brokenness had led to fear.

Fear of failure, fear that I was not enough, and fear that my spirit would be crushed once again under the pressure of ill words by envious hearts. Instead of pushing forward with tenacity and faith in my abilities, I allowed myself to crumble.

Now, fast forward to the present.

It has been a process. Hard. Emotional. A process of healing & self-discovery.

Having learned from this journey called life, I refuse to let anyone or anything stop me from my pursuit to share with the world what has been divinely placed within me ever again. Every day is not perfect. My tender heart must choose to press forward when it would be easier to regress. But that is why it is important to take courage and place one foot in front of the other.

My hope is that you will face your fears NOW and not allow years of influence to be wasted because you spent your days caged up in defeat as I had.

I want to say to you, “RISE BEAUTIFUL ONE”.

I believe the self-doubt and running away stops here! We must tap into our inner strength and believe that we are conquerors. No matter where we have been and no matter the Giants that stand before us, WE WILL RISE!

Inadequacy will rule no more!

May we become the Lioness no longer confined, operating in her gift, leaving her unique paw print on the world.

Lastly, I must say as a new mom, this principle is at the forefront of my mind everyday. It is important that I not only do this for myself but for my baby boy as well. It is important to me to pave the way for bold and brave living. As I go before him I want him to know that fears conquered can have a ripple effect for generations to come, and it starts with OUR choice to rise when it would be easier to run. It is by setting this standard that I know the legacy will not be lost.

Let us FACE all that is before us, RISE empowered having conquered our fear, and be relentless in the pursuit of the passion within.

The time is NOW….

Simple & Cute Homemade Aprons

Hello my sweet friends! I hope you are all well & enjoying summer! I am excited to share with you one of my friend’s DIY’s! This is great for baking, summer popsicle’s, or homemade gifts for the grandparents! Check out more photo’s and details on how to make these simple & cute homemade aprons over at Hailey’s page! I love homemade gifts. Both making them and receiving them (are you reading this, Scott!?!?), but I am a little behind schedule with this one. It was a few sessions of trial and error. I saw this idea on Pinterest once upon a time and decided it was easy enough to do myself. Well, it didn’t start out that easy.

First I bought the wrong size aprons (I had no idea aprons had sizes?!), then I used a fabric spray paint which is almost impossible to keep confined to the area of the apron you want to paint. But the third time is always a charm, right?!

I’ll explain the easiest way of doing this, at least as far as my experience went, and you can modify it to fit what you want your apron to look like!

I frequent Michael’s and found everything I needed there, but I’m sure any craft store will do.

Simple and cute homemade aprons

You will need to make these aprons:

  • 2 one size aprons
  • sponge pouncers
  • stencils of your choice
  • fabric paint (I let the kids pick their colors)
  • newspaper or cardboard
  • iron
  • paper plates
  • paper towels
  • a bowl full of soapy water
  • an old rag (this will likely wind up with paint on it)

Tips for easy apron making:

  1. The first thing you will want to do is iron your aprons. Once they are wrinkle-free, lay the aprons on your cardboard or newspaper and cut out your stencils. I did this so I didn’t have to wait for the paint to dry. Line your stencils up and get your paint on your paper plate. Dab your sponge in the paint and blot to remove any excess. Hold your stencil very still and blot the paint down.*Be aware that too much paint on your sponge could mean the paint could seep under the stencil.*
  2.  Rinse each stencil after each use so the paint does not transfer elsewhere. Lay on paper towels and pat dry.
  3. I chose to center my words but you can stagger them or do them however you’d like. Once your words are finished, time to get the kids involved. (I let mine dry overnight, but you can do it all at once if you prefer)
  4. Have your bowl of soapy water and your rag handy. Put your hand print paints on separate plates. Have the kids dip their hand (one at a time) in the paint and gently place on the apron (palm first, then fingers). Quickly wash off hand and dry. Then repeat with the other hand.

I had my daughter go first so my son could see how to do it. And there you have it! Super easy. Well, not so easy for my 18 month old, as you can see by his blue hand prints. But, easy enough!

30 DAYS OF READING, HEARING & SPEAKING GODS TRUTH; I WILL FOLLOW, DAY 30

30 days of reading, hearing, and speaking God’s truth into our lives; I will Follow!

Welcome to day 30, our last day together.

Thank you all so much for being part of this journey. My spirit has been renewed, my hunger intensified, and excitement restored. I have once again been reminded that His mercies are new every morning! My hope is that you feel the same!

Today’s topic is more of an action, a commitment…….

I will Follow…..

Our time is our greatest commodity. We only have so much. It cannot be purchased. Once it is spent, it is gone. My biggest fear in life, is to look back and see that I misused it, wasted it. My biggest fear in life, is to regret having the courage to say YES to Jesus. He is the way, the truth, and the life! He is worthy of our YES!

There is no greater reward than Him. Therefore, the best decision we can make in regards to our greatest asset; time, is to give it to Him.

Verse of the day!

Matthew 16:24

As we spend time with our Savior, He changes us. He begins to lead us, giving us opportunities big and small, to say YES.

When I look at the many heroic men of the bible, they all have one thing in common. They ALL said YES! They all chose to follow God’s lead. These men made the decision to exercise their faith, to trust not in the seen, but the unseen.

Victory and blessing in our lives always points back to obedience to God.

The Bible says,

and you return to the LORD your God and obey Him with all your heart and soul according to all that I command you today, you and your sons (Deuteronomy 30:2).

Then the LORD your God will prosper you abundantly in all the work of your hand, in the offspring of your body and in the offspring of your cattle and in the produce of your ground, for the LORD will again rejoice over you for good, just as He rejoiced over your fathers; if you obey the LORD your God to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this book of the law, if you turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and soul (Deuteronomy 30:9-10).

God longs to pour out His blessing on us. He looks for those of us who are willing. His desire is to bless His people, set us apart. He is looking to use any willing vessel (you and me), to be witnesses to the world of who HE is. He wants to demonstrate to the world through his people that He is the ONLY MOST HIGH GOD. His purpose is to bring his lost creation back to Himself. He does this everyday through those that are willing.

God created Adam and Eve for His pleasure. He blessed them abundantly. It was their disobedience that brought about sin. Which tells us, that obedience is very important to Him. And without it, we too, will fall prey to sin.

Just a few of the men that were not perfect, but followed God’s lead!

Moses, Joseph, Joshua, Noah, Solomon, Esther, Abraham, Jacob and many more.

God longs us to bless us! His greatest desire is to teach us, change us, and help us say Yes to all the things He has purposed for our lives!

Join me in saying YES! Join me in praying that God would help us BE ALL that created us to be!

Thanks again dear friends for being here the last 30 days! You have been a blessing to me!

xxoxoxox.
